Check the whole system
Record the camera, recorder, power supply, cabling, and connection type. Have the installer verify supported signal format and recording resolution using the documentation for both camera and recorder. A matching connector alone does not establish a compatible installation.
Confirm the lens and intended view. A replacement that records successfully can still miss the area the business needs to see. Review the actual scene and lighting conditions rather than choosing only by a headline resolution.
Define the acceptance test
Check the live view and recorded playback, including timestamps and retrieval of a selected event. Test the conditions that matter at the location, such as changes in lighting. Document the result and unresolved limitations.
Confirm who is authorized to view and export recordings and who owns the supporting accounts. Retention and access settings should follow the business’s requirements and applicable obligations, with appropriate advice where needed.
Plan maintenance
Keep model details, installer contacts, and configuration information available. Identify who notices a failed camera or missing recordings. A camera that powers on is not proof that usable footage is being retained.
